Imagine being a puppy for a day!

In a utopian world, I’d love to laze around knowing that all my needs would be fully met. Apart from that, I’d be barraged with constant love, be at the centre of all the attention, constantly be fed, be an internet sensation and last but not least, play a LOT. But how and why? Well, I’m fluffy, adorable, huggable and cute.

Fluffy, really? What kind of human being would want to be fluffy? But who said anything about being a human being? In a utopian world, I’d wanna be a pup. Not just any pup, but a Retriever pup.

If you have no idea what this breed of dog looks like, you’re in for a treat. I personally think this is the cutest breed out there. They’ve got such adorable smiles, happy eyes, so much fluff, wiggly waggly tails and MY GOSH, when they stick their tongue out like that, my heart just melts like ice cream in the tropics. Like who’d not want to pet them and cuddle the fluff outta them?

Okay, my description of this pupper barely justifies the cuteness of this creature. Let me show you what I’m talking about. This, my fellow hoomans, is what the glorious pup looks like. 😊

So Hi to my Spirit Animal!

Super friggin cute right?! 🤍

I’m sure you thought I was just blowing it all out of proportion. But now, you automatically wanna just run towards this pup, grab him and play with him, pet him and love him. If not, then I really sympathise with you. You’re missing out on such a wonderful feeling!

Now imagine being that pup for a day. That would most definitely be one the best days of my life. I’d like to walk you through how being that pup, for a day, would look like ☺️

I imagine waking up to the comfort of being wrapped in a very nice fabric that was perfectly cut out for me. My bed would be layered with cushions, all plush and comfy, with some of my favourite stuffed toys scattered around. The temperature at home would be just right. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect. I’d let out a very cute sneeze and somebody would scream,” Bless you!” and run towards me.

Ah yes, my favourite hooman. She’d scoop me up in her arms and ruffle my belly much to my glee. The world around me would pause because my hooman would only matter at that moment. Few more belly rubs and pats on my head would set the tone for a marvellous day. She’d lay me down and make me prance around her to the dinning table, my favourite spot in the house.

I’ve learnt that hoomans hide all my treats and goodies in that room. They usually don’t let me leap onto the kitchen counter, but I take my chances. I am, anyway, their adorable, fluffy puppy.

I’ve learnt that the hoomans at home are quick to forgive me when I make a mistake. I’ve noticed that they get angry with each other when they make a mistake, but with me, they just giggle and take videos of me. So, I don’t mind fooling around once in a while.

Anyway, back to where I was. Yes, my treats. A bunch of cookies and chips are poured into a special bowl just for me. They really know the best way to a dog’s heart. I usually rummage through these cookies to see if there’s a fish chip at the bottom of the bowl. My hooman knows that’s my favourite treat. And what do you know, lo and behold, I see the chip lying there in all its glory. With deft motion, I scoop the chip with my tongue and savour the wonderful taste of my fish chip. I really do love my hooman now.

As a sign of gratitude, I jump on Linda, my amazing hooman, and lick her till she falls off the counter. She also makes me do a bunch of silly things like just sitting still, rolling over, giving her my paw and jumping up and down. I don’t understand why, but it does make her super happy. Few more belly rubs and pats follow because she can’t seem to get enough of my cuteness.

I usually like to wander off into my garden for a while because I like the way sunshine feels on my skin. I also enjoy the feeling of autumn leaves landing on my nose. It’s one of those games I LOVE. Running around, chasing my tail, watching leaves fall, jumping and running after a ball is how I usually spend my time.

I love the feeling of running on grass. It makes my paws feel so pokey and squishy. After all that running, I go to my favourite water hose and gobble down all that water. I’ve never understood why it has no colour. Or does it? Well, it doesn’t matter. It tastes good and that’s what matters.

Linda usually has lunch ready for me by the time I’m done running after butterflies and catching little snails. She makes the best food in the world. Very yummy slices of meat and broccoli, my favourite, is what I see on my plate. I enjoy seeing all of it disappear so quickly. I look at it like it’s a game — Now I see it and now I don’t. Linda also has a brick like thingy in her hand that follows me wherever I go. I’m not sure what fascinates her about the brick but she’s very happy when I let her follow me around with it.

Anyway, my precious bed awaits me for another long nap that I usually look forward to after a hearty meal. I only like waking up when it’s dark outside cause that’s when my next round of treats and cuddles comes. Linda also makes desserts once in a while just to show me how much she loves me, and boy oh boy, does she love me a lot!

If you’ve noticed, I love sleeping a lot. It’s very blissful. So apart from walking around the house and getting petted and pampered, I just go and nap. If I don’t feel particularly sleepy, I usually play with my bright blue rubber ball. It’s so bouncy and keeps me entertained till I’m tired enough to take a nap.

My day is basically a routine involving loads involving playing, cuddling, eating, pampering, napping and getting a LOT of attention. I couldn’t ask for more to be honest. That’s how I imagine my day would go as a puppy.
